Jan is a Strategic Planning Adviser in our Planning Environment, Energy and Infrastructure Law Group. She has been a former Commissioner/Examining Inspector in the Infrastructure Planning Commission/Planning Inspectorate and has over 25 years of experience from industry, mixed environmental, planning and legal practice of complex development and infrastructure projects and related environmental, land and consenting matters.
Jan’s experience includes:
- Advising the Wellcome Foundation on their proposals for a major research, development and residential campus scheme adjacent to their existing Genome Campus at Hinxton in South Cambridge.
- International Advanced Manufacturing Park - advising Sunderland and South Tyneside joint Council’s on consenting strategy and the s35 Direction and Development Consent Order process for the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) and development of a dedicated Action Area Plan for Green Belt release for the development of up to a 100ha advanced manufacturing park and associated infrastructure and service development to facilitate the expansion of the Nissan automotive cluster and supply chain and advanced manufacturing industries.
- East Leeds Orbital Road - providing strategic advice and Compulsory Purchase inquiry training on the East Leeds Orbital Road project and Compulsory Purchase Order for Leeds City Council.
- Midlands Engine - advising Midlands Engine on set up of transitional collaborative working and route and options to securing and transition to Locally led Urban Development Corporation to deliver significant residential, economic and infrastructure delivery in the regeneration and renewal of the area including delivery of a new settlement.
- Jan has extensive experience of development consent orders and related environmental and land matters as an Examiner and adviser to applicants, local authorities and interested parties such as landowners, including projects across the range of energy, transport, water, waste water and business and commercial projects.
Jan has been recognised many times as a Planning Magazine women of influence in planning.
